Welcome to Gainesville, Florida

Gainesville - Home to the Florida Gators!

It's also home to Santa Fe College with over 30,000 students taking credit and non-credit courses and now part of Florida's State College System. So with almost 100,000 students enrolled in courses here, Gainesville is Florida's educational hub.

As you might expect, this somewhat remote college town offers a plethora of interesting ways to spend your time.

There are lots of different recreational opportunities, a large number of museums - from natural history and art - and some really interesting, off-radar things to experience - the nightly flight from a small barn of millions of waking bats at dusk to hunt insects in the evening skies.

Gainesville - quintessential college town

Most weekends, and particularly so on "game" weekends, it's almost impossible to find last-minute accommodations - make sure you plan well in advance. Gainesville is represented by almost all the national hotel chains - many of the newest being among the closest to the UF campus.
